S&N OY'S PROJECT DELIVERIES KEEP NORDAUTOMATION'S PROJECTS ON SCHEDULE

Nordautomation Oy, founded in 1991, is a company specialised in project deliveries for the wood processing industry and a market leader in log handling technology, delivering solutions for log handling, sawmill infeed and by-product handling, where top-class performance is combined with operational reliability and durability. The long cooperation between S&N Oy and Nordautomation has grown strongly in recent years, says Nordautomation's procurement manager Marko Alalantela. Alalantela highlights S&N's solid industry expertise in sawmill equipment manufacturing and particular expertise in Timken QM bearing housings.

S&N has, together with Timken, provided a bearing and installation training package on QM bearing housings for Nordautomation's personnel. The training package was extremely important, as the installation and assembly of QM bearing housings differs significantly from the installation of other bearing housings. The Timken QM bearing housing is designed to withstand extreme conditions and is therefore excellently suited for use on sawmill log decks, where long shafts require intermediate bearings. The cast steel body of the QM housing and Timken's spherical roller bearings withstand heavy impact loads and vibration. A definite advantage of the QM housing is also the ease of installation and a considerably longer service life.

Good communication and regular contact with the representative were essential, especially during global supply and availability difficulties. Systematic informing about the delivery situation enabled proactive measures in production, thereby avoiding costly disruptions. S&N plays a key role in agreeing delivery times also when QM housing delivery times need to be brought forward due to high demand, Marko explains.

S&N's project delivery product code interpretation and product selection make procurement effortless, Marko elaborates on how the cooperation works. Timken delivers the bearings to S&N, where project-specific bearings are sorted and marked position by position with the customer's own codes, so it is immediately known whether a bearing belongs to, for example, a log deck, sorter or conveyor. The delivery also always contains the correct number of bearings per project. S&N's project deliveries have significantly helped our inventory management, Marko states and continues that S&N's contribution helps ensure that projects stay on schedule, which is a valuable part of the total service Nordautomation offers to its customers.
